Mathew Edenbrow
Mathew is a sculptor based in Llangeithio, Ceredigion.
‘My work is strongly informed by my varied life experiences with wild animals as well
as my academic understanding of animal behaviour gained during, and after being
awarded my PhD investigating animal personality. it was during the early stages of
my academic career that I came to fully appreciate and get excited by the
complexities of animal behaviour. I now draw upon these experiences using clay as
a medium to explore the beauty of the animal form hopefully reveals something
previously unnoticed.
In 2020 my work was selected as a finalist for the David Shepherd Foundations
Wildlife Artist of the Year, and Create Gallery Emerging Artist award. Work has in
addition been selected for the Royal Society of Marine Artists annual exhibition at
Mall, gallery 39 London.
In recent months I have also begun to produce contemporary sculptures, exploring
by form and colour and how the two interact in the physical space. this body of work
is currently evolving and developing as I explore this new aspect of my practise.’
