Harriet Chapman
Harriett is a multi-disciplinary artist from West Wales, working with Textiles, Paint and Collage. The effects of her childhood surroundings, growing up in a creative household is at the heart of her work and offers the viewer a window into her life.
Within her work Harriett is presenting a new version of her past, as well as creating a new life for the objects in a different, altered interior. Pattern, Colour, Line and Shape are a central part of her work and she assembles images together using still life, photographs and found images, piecing them together to create a composition.
“I am interested in the history of objects and the familiarity I feel when I look at them, they hold a connection to people, places and a specific time. Many of my belongings hold family associations and they all have their individual narrative linking to memory, meaning and emotion”
“My surroundings were an eclectic mix of engaging visual treats for my senses”
